PatRick Environmental began in 1971 when Rick Dice set out to build a company that would set new standards for wildland firefighting. In 1974, PatRick officially incorporated, and Rick later helped found the National Wildfire Suppression Association, shaping the private wildfire industry into what it is today.
From the beginning, PatRick Environmental was built on innovation. Rick Dice actually coined the term "wildland firefighter" and established the first private state and federal firefighting agreements. The company created professional standards that didn't exist before—developing the first employee Fire Folders and private contractor red cards, and publishing the first Wildland Firefighter magazine to serve the growing industry.
We continue that legacy by providing top-tier wildland fire crews, fuels management, and emergency services across the country, helping protect communities and the environment when it matters most. Every fire season, our teams are ready to answer the call — battling wildfires, reducing hazardous fuels, and supporting agencies with the skills, equipment, and dedication it takes to make a real difference on the ground.
This year, PatRick proudly headed north to support firefighting efforts during the intense wildfires in Canada, bringing our expertise, dedication, and resources to the front lines. Our crews work hand in hand with government teams, providing vital support and strengthening operations in critical situations. We compliment all federal and state agencies.
The Wildland Firefighter Foundation is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women who risk their lives to protect our forests, homes, and communities. We provide assistance to firefighters and their families in times of need. Our mission is to honor, support, and assist wildland firefighters and their families through financial aid, physical and emotional support, advocacy, and community.
