Many applicants run into issues because their certificate file is labeled .pdf but was not saved as a true PDF document. Here is how to make sure your certificate uploads correctly:
After completing your IS-100 or IS-700 course, go to the certificate page and look for a “Download Certificate” or “Save as PDF” button — do not use your browser's Print function.
If you only see a “Print” option, choose Print → Save as PDF (not a physical printer). On Chrome/Edge, select “Save as PDF” as the destination.
Do not rename a .jpg or screenshot file to .pdf. Files must be actual PDF documents, not images with a renamed extension.
To verify your file is a real PDF: open it — if it displays in a PDF viewer (like Adobe Acrobat or your browser's PDF viewer) and shows proper certificate text, it is valid.
If you are still having trouble, try completing your course through Safety Unlimited and download the certificate directly from their platform.
